A delegation led by Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee deputy chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hong yesterday departed for Russia to organize a string of trade and tourism promotion events paving the way for Vietnamese goods to the country.

The delegation’s fellow travelers comprise 46 Vietnamese businesses from fields such as medicines, construction materials, tourism, hotels and restaurants, and financial services. They will showcase their products at the events.

These activities aim to help Vietnamese firms effectively exploit the Vietnam- Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement that was signed on May 30.

They will have opportunities to boost export and import, advertise their products and brand names, broaden markets, seek for potential partners, open representative offices and build distribution networks in Russia through the events.

The delegation will do a survey on the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods at trade centers and supermarkets in Russia.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Federation is a large market and a traditional trading partner of Vietnam. It is at demand of consuming a large volume of Vietnamese farm produce, food and consumer goods.
