The largest local workers’ union in the world, United Healthcare Workers East (1199 SEIU) of the USA, has passed a resolution supporting Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) for Viet Nam and called for compensation for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange.
In the resolution, 1199SEIU said that its action committee called the US Congress to approve the bills S.3495 and HR. 5602 on PNTR status for Viet Nam. This is the final step in normalizing Vietnamese-US relations.
1199SEIU also confirmed it would develop the relationship with the Vietnamese Healthcare Union to exchange experience and cooperate for the two side members’ interests.
1199SEIU called all its members and laborers in the US to support PNTR for Viet Nam by sending letters or calling to US Senators and Representatives asking them to adapt the bills S.3495 and HR. 5602.
Additionally, 1199SEIU said that it would support US veterans, Vietnamese Agent Orange victims in the campaign of seeking compensation and justice from the US government and chemical companies produced herbicides that the US Army sprayed in Viet Nam
