Gold of the Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) set a new record high on May 12, 2006. At the SJC branch in Ha Noi, the selling price was VND15.1 million per tael.
The day before, the selling price in Ho Chi Minh City was VND14.65 million per tael, a 25-year record high.
On May 12 in Ha Noi, gold of the Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ) was sold at VND15 million per tael.
The domestic price has increased in line with the world price, which was US$720-721 per ounce on May 11. Market analysts say the world price would keep rising.
