US$12.25 billion remitted to Vietnam in 2015

Vietnam received about US$12.25 billion overseas remittances last year, US$250 million higher than the previous year when it was equivalent to 6.4 percent gross domestic product, reported the World Bank.
 
With US$12.25 billion remittances, Vietnam ranks 11th in the world and third in East Asia Pacific after China and the Philippines.
 
According to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, Vietnam has nearly five million people residing in 103 nations and territories.
 
In the phase of 1993-2004, a total of US$96.66 billion was remitted to the country.
