The overseas remittance mainly come from the US and Europe with the US accounting for over 60 percent.
Recipients have used the funds for production, trading and other investments rather than kept at home, spent on shopping or bought properties and shares as before, SBV said.
Still, real estate companies in HCMC reported that the satisfactory overseas remittance had contributed in boosting consumption of high grade apartments in the second quarter this year.
A total of 2,359 apartments were reported sold in the city during the second quarter, accounting for 36 percent of the consumption volume in the real estate market.
