The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Cooperation and the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) took place at National Convenient Center in Hanoi on October 24.
The assistant minister of foreign affairs, head of the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting in Vietnam Mr. Vu Quang Minh chaired the summits.
The two major conferences focus on the preparation for the seventh ACMECS and the eighth CLMV under the chair of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on October 26.
At the SOM CLMV, high- level leaders discussed strengthening further six priority cooperative sectors such as trade & investment, humanity resource development, agriculture, industry, traffic & tourism; and cooperation efficiency, solving difficulties in implementing the projects as well as exchanged with ASEAN secretarial board on humanity resources for the four nations’ priority projects.
At the SOM ACMECS, the high- ranking delegates reviewed implement progress for ACMECS's eight priority sectors such as trade & investment, traffic, industry, agriculture, tourist, humanity resource development, health and environment in the period of 2016- 2018 which was approved at the sixth ACMECS in July, 2015.
Within the framework of cooperative appreciation, the SOM CLMV and SOM ACMECS were unanimous for suggesting trade & investment cooperation expansion, creating favorable conditions for cargo and service transport and improving productivity and competition between the countries.
The delegates also reviewed the preparation for CLMV 8 and ACMECS 7 and discussed agenda program of summits and instrument draft.
