Noticeably, public transportation services climbed 4.4 percent as coach tickets surged 7.39 percent; train tickets soared 15.84 percent; however, transportation just slightly inched up 0.16 percent as fuel prices were kept steadily during the Tet festive season.
Garments, hats and footwear edged up 0.14 percent; pharmaceuticals and health care services added 0.01 percent; goods and other services emerged 0.47 percent.
Core inflation increased 0.48 percent in February compared to the previous month and 1.82 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, inflation was higher than core inflation in February which means that price fluctuation was mainly caused by an increase in prices of food and foodstuffs. Meanwhile, an increase of 1.82 percent in February over the same period last year reflected that monetary policy remained steady.
