Economic growth at 4.9 percent in first six months

The Ministry of Planning and Investment recently announced that the country’s economic growth in the first half of this year was at 4.9 percent, almost equal to that in the same period last year.

Agriculture, forestry, and aquaculture sectors rose 2.07 percent; industry and construction soared 5.18 percent; and services grew 5.92 percent.

Noticeably, inventory index has gradually dropped while index of industrial production saw an increase month by month. In addition, in the past few months, the number of newly established enterprises showed an increase compared to the same period last year, at 7.8 percent in the first six months.

Meanwhile, 9,300 enterprises have resumed operations after temporarily shutting down.

The Ministry now forecasts that the country’s economic growth will possibly reach the year’s target of 5.5 percent.
