Around 100 Chinese companies are hawking their wares at the fifth Chinese-Guangdong Products Fair, which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday morning.
The goods on show at the International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Tan Binh District run from machines, chemicals and electronics to building products and interior decorations.
Organized by Vietfair and several foreign firms, the event should help boost trade between Viet Nam and China in general and between Ho Chi Minh City and Guangdong province, one of China’s strongest economic areas, in particular.
China has become Viet Nam’s third largest trading partner since 2004. Their two-way trade turnover is tipped to exceed US$10 billion in 2006, four years earlier than the two governments originally targeted, according to Viet Nam’s Ministry of Trade.
