Korean Investors Keen on Viet Nam

Recently, HCMC has become an attractive investment destination for many Korean corporations and businesses. Over 13,000 Korean corporations are effectively running their businesses in the city, Mr. Kim Yuong-ju, Korea’s Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said.

In HCMC, many Korean-backed projects including the constructions of the Kumho building, Hiep Phuoc urban area, Tan Son Nhat airport road extension and many others have begun.

Yesterday, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tai, Vice standing President of HCMC People’s Committee had a meeting with Minister Kim and 20 corporation executives of leading Korean companies who came to the city to learn more about local investment environment.

Korean delegates also witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum among the Korea Small Business Cooperation (SBC), the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) and the Viet Nam Department of Science and Technology.

In related news, Dr. Park Sam Koo, President of Kumho Asiana Syndicate said that the company would invest US$4 billion in construction projects to be carried out in Viet Nam, including the Giang Vo Culture and Trade Center and the Me Tri Exhibition Center in Ha Noi city. In October 2007, Kumho will start a US$300 million construction project of a new residential area at the west side of West Lake, Ha Noi city.
