More than 500 business people attended a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on global competition and Viet Nam’s advantages on Friday, held on the occasion of the Viet Nam Entrepreneur Day, October 13.
Twelve speakers who are cultural and economic researchers and entrepreneurs delivered their presentations on the opportunities for and the challenges facing Viet Nam when it joins the World Trade Organization.
Many participants shared an idea that every entrepreneur has to take advantage of his or her own strengths.
They shared the view that Viet Nam has a good geographic location, a fast developing economy and offers politic stability.
Another agreed idea was that joining the WTO does not merely means manufacturing competitive products and supplying good services, but it also requires determination and expertise. To survive global competition, the government, enterprises and business associations have to team up with each other and join efforts.
Doanh Nhan Sai Gon newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association held the workshop at the Majestic Hotel.
Also on Friday, more than 300 entrepreneurs from different areas in Viet Nam gathered in Da Nang City to celebrate their day. They donated VND508 million (about US$31,700) to help victims of Typhoon Xangsane in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province, both on the central coast.
