Among the licenses already awarded, Malaysia’s Pamatex will invest over US$100 million to build an export-oriented clothing factory in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in Quang Nam Province.
South Korea’s Daewon is here in a big way too, making clothes in Ho Chi Minh City’s Vinh Loc Industrial Park and textiles in Dong Nai Province’s Nhon Trach I Industrial Park, and now planning to invest US$8million to manufacture clothing for export in Da Nang’s Hoa Khanh Industrial Park.
But the biggest fresh investment by far will come from Taiwan’s Formosa Corporation, which intends to expand production of its US$500-million project in Nhon Trach IP by injecting a further US$400 million.
