Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Group has got the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s approval to build an industrial zone, residential-service area and golf course in the northern province of Bac Giang.

The 960-ha complex, named Van Trung, will comprise 500 hectares of industrial zone, 200 hectares of residential-service area, and 260 hectares of golf links.
Foxconn had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding with Binh Dinh Province to invest US$1 billion to build industrial zones, apartment buildings, a service area and tourist places in the central province.
The company has also asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment for permission to invest US$5 billion in Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Da Nang, Lang Son, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang.
Ho Chi Minh City has approved Foxconn’s plan to build a billion-dollar hi-tech industrial park occupying 200 hectares of Tan Phu Trung Industrial Zone.
