The world gold price hit US$812 per ounce yesterday, up US$17 per ounce early this week and up US$14 per ounce compared to December 21.
The same day, Sai Gon Jewellery Company (SJC) gold hit VND15.75 million per tael, an increase of VND150,000 over December 21.
According to domestic experts, these increases were attributed to the high buying demand of consumers before Christmas.
Other reasons came from weakness in the US dollar and the slight recovery of crude oil prices.
