Attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh; leaders from ministries, central departments, provinces and cities from the Southern Key Economic Zone; representatives from consulates in Ho Chi Minh City; and more than 400 domestic and foreign investors.

According to the plan, Long An Province targets sustainable development using high technology, modern infrastructure, highly skilled human resource and improved standards of living.

Deputy Prime Minister Ninh said that in order to obtain the above targets, Long An should closely work with relevant departments and investors to review and estimate investment potential, modify and supplement new policies to lure investors and improve the investment environment.

The province should also build a detailed five year plan to effectively implement projects approved by the Government, he said.

Long An Province is located at the entrance gate of Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta and borders Cambodia along a 133 kilometer stretch.

The province also comes under the Southern Key Economic Zone with vast potential to develop into a highly industrialized, agricultural and commercial hub.

Land space allocated by 2020 for industrial development will be about 15,000 hectares, however, at present 5,000 hectares is available for investors.

The announcement of such a comprehensive plan will help Long An Province show its potential and vast opportunities to investors.
