For a long time, it has been mostly reported that some export products of Vietnam were inspected and applied sanctions by imported countries to implement anti-dumping measures. However, on April 20, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that it decided to carry out an anti-dumping investigation into MDF products imported from Thailand and Malaysia.

The investigation was launched based on a dossier sent by four representatives of local MDF producers, consisting of VRG Kien Giang MDF JSC, MDF VRG Quang Tri Wood JSC, Kim Tin MDF JSC and VRG Dongwha MDF JSC - a joint venture between the South Korea’s Dongwha International company and Vietnam Rubber Group, on October 18 last year.

Local MDF producers accused MDF products imported from Thailand and Malaysia of being sold at dumping rates in Vietnamese market with a dumping range varying from 18.59 percent to 50.6 percent. The dumping of Thai and Malaysian MDF products is the main reason that has caused significant losses to MDF manufacturing industry of Vietnam.
