Khaisilk Group- a Vietnamese silk company was discovered last week to label Chinese silk with its brandname.
The Minister required the ministry’s Market Management Department to transfer the case to the police agency.
The requirement was made right after a meeting which the minister presided over to listen to reports from relevant sides about violations on silk scarf label and origin by Khaisilk Group. Previously, the store of Khaisilk at 113 Hang Gai street, Hoan Kiem disrict, Hanoi was found selling scarfs having both ‘Made in China’ and ‘Made in Vietnam’ labels.
In addition, he asked to establish an interagency inspection team comprising relevant agencies such as police, customs, tax and science and technology; Vietnam Apparel and Textile Association; Consumers Protection Association and agencies under the ministry to investigate the label and origin violations.
He suggested the People’s Committees of Hanoi and HCMC in collaboration with the inspection team to clarify violations by Khaisilk Group, Khai Duc Company Ltd and the branch of the company at 113 Hang Gai street.
The Market Management Department should work with relevant agencies to collect more information and evidences of the case.
The trade fraud has raised public objection as they believed that Khaisilk has imported Chinese scarfs, removed made in China labels and sold them as Vietnamese silk ones at expensive prices.
