Nearly 20,000 cars sold in May :VAMA

Nearly 27, 400 cars were sold countrywide in May, a month-on-month increase of 30 percent, said the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA).

Of total number of sold cars, 19,500 passenger vehicles; 7,350 commercial vehicles and over 500 special-purpose vehicles respectively were sold in the month.
In terms of origin, the number of domestically-assembled vehicles stood at 15,300 units while 12,200 imported automobiles were sold, representing month-on-month increases of 8 per cent and 175 percent, respectively.
Generally, sale of three kinds of vehicles rose 22 percent year on year. Sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles saw an annual rise of 22 percent and 0.2 percent respectively while special-purpose vehicle sale suffered month-on-month decline of 39 percent.
In five months, sales of locally-manufactured vehicles dropped by 14 percent whereas imported cars went up by 210 percent compared to the same period last year.
