No imported used cars have been seen in Ho Chi Minh City, three days after the decision allowing the importation of second-hand cars went into effect.

Only brand-new or consigned second-hand cars are displayed in most car dealers around town.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghiep, head of the Sai Gon Port Custom Sub-Department, said, “No used cars have been imported into Viet Nam through Sai Gon Port since May 1, 2006”.

Only six new vehicles were imported by a business in the central province of Phu Yen at Cat Lai Port on May 3, he added.
