Passengers on delayed flights to get free meal, accommodation

Under the decision No.27/2017 issued by the Ministry of Transport, airlines have to provide food, drink and accommodation for passengers as their flights are delayed or cancelled, starting on November 1.

Accordingly, in case a flight is delayed or interrupted for 15 minutes or more behind schedule, airlines must provide the cause of the delay to passengers, and inform them about the expected takeoff time and apologize to the travelers.
Carriers must offer drinks and food to passengers if the flight gets delayed from two to three hours; and provide free accommodation for 6 and over hour layovers beginning from 10pm to 7am the following day.
Airlines have been also aksed to give information on delayed and cancelled flights , expected takeoff time, number of passengers receiving free services on delayed flights, compensation for affected passengers to airports.
