Pepper farmers benefit from high prices

Pepper is being sold at VND150,000 (US$7.5) per kilogram, a good price for farmers to make profits, an agricultural official in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai has said.

Though the price is lower than the VND184,000 the spice fetched last year, it is high, Le Sy Quy, deputy chief of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Chu Se District, said May 30.

The district has around 2,500 hectares under pepper, which earned nearly one trillion (US$ 47.31 million) this year for their owners.
