Ta Long Hy, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Taxi Association and director of Vinasun Taxi Company, said that the fuel price increase has greatly affected their operations. They have to spend an extra amount on fuel costs every day.

Ha Thanh Son from the Son Ha Joint Stock Company said although it is the second petrol price hike within just one and a half month, businesses are still not permitted to hike their fares.

According to regulations, businesses will only be allowed to raise their fares if the fuel price increase exceeds by five per cent. However, the increase has been less than five per cent in each of the last two hikes.
