Co.opMart supermarkets saw an increase of 60 percent over normal. Customers have mainly bought fresh and processed food and discounted items.

Prices are kept stable with attractive discounts and presents to several products, said Nguyen Thanh Nhan, director of the supermarket chain.

BigC, Citimart and Maximark reported slight increase in purchasing power. They have also provided promotional programs and discounts of up to 49 percent on thousands of commodities.

Vice versa, the purchasing power has not risen as expectation in markets in the last two days.

Prices of most items are kept unchanged. The only groups seeing 15 percent increase are seafood, fruits and vegetables.
