Australia’s Qantas Freight on May 21 launched its direct weekly freight service between Ho Chi Minh City and the US via China’s Shanghai.
The first Qantas freighter departed HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport with full of cargo, according to Bui Quang Hung, chairman of the city-based Sovereign Global Logistics Co.
The company has been acting as Qantas Freighter’s general sales and service agent since 2006, when Qantas started its presence in Vietnam.
The Australian carrier uses Boeing 747-400F aircraft for its new service, flying every Thursday night. The planes can carry up to 100 tons of cargo per flight. The aircraft are set to arrive in New York on Friday morning and in Chicago early Saturday morning.
