Retail, service sales hit $91.1 million nationwide

The General Statistics Office of Vietnam said the country’s retail and consumer service sales hit VND2.1 trillion ($91.1 million), a year-on-year increase of 10.7 percent in the first half of the year.

Apart from that, retail and service revenue in Ho Chi Minh City in the first six months reached VND510,190 billion, a rise of 12.5 percent compared to same period last year.
The tourism sector has seen good growth compared to same period last year thanks to reform in organizing periodical tourism events generating positive yield. Tourism festivals attracted visitors and locals’ attention.
Additionally, the city takes heed to improve activities of teams of tourist security guards to handle street vendors who insist on buying their items in downtown areas aiming to keep visitors’ safety and build image of friendly and attractive city in the eye of tourists.
Since the beginning of the year, 3.8 million international travelers have been toured to HCMC, a year-on-year surge of 26.5 percent. Total tourism revenue has hit VND62,600 billion, a rise of 15.7 percent.
