Steel price accelerates

Domestic steel prices have increased by VND400,000-600,000 a ton compared to January, according to Vietnam Steel Association.

The price swings from VND10.6-11.2 million a ton at steel plants. Steel billet price jumped to VND10,200 a kilogram by the end of March.

The association says that the domestic price has increased in association with the world price hike.
Scrap steel price has reached US$ 285-290 a ton, up US$15-20 compared to the price at the end of January and early February. Steel billet has surged by $20-25 to $430-440 a ton.

Hot rolled steel has remained high hitting $ 515-523 a ton. Last year, the highest price was $528 a ton.
