Steel rolls sold in Viet Nam

Steel billet price in Viet Nam and neighboring markets has increased by US$10-15 per ton since late January 2006, according to the Viet Nam Steel Corporation.

The CFR price of the material in Viet Nam and other Southeast Asian markets is about US$350-355 per ton now, says the corporation. Price of steel sheets have also increased, with Chinese steel sheets being quoted in Viet Nam at US$395-400 per ton, US$20-25 higher than in early February.

Mr. Mai Van Tinh, deputy general director of the corporation, says his company has in stock about 113,000 tons of construction steel, 21,000 tons of cold-rolled steel and 162,000 tons of steel billets. Steel sheet is now priced at VND7,000-7,200 per kilo, hot-rolled steel VND6,700-6,800 per kilo and cold-rolled steel VND8,700-8,800 per kilo, including the value-added tax.
