Banking shares sink market

The Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index continued to plummet on February 3 as several banking shares, including STB, VCB, EIB, CTG, and BID and blue-chip stocks lost ground.
 
The VN-Index fell 12.9 points, or 2.26 percent, to close at 557.47 points with 166 losers, 59 winners, and 54 stocks unchanged.
 
The VN30-Index also retreated 2.17 percent, or 12.99 points, to 585.47 points. There were 27 stocks declining, 2 advancing, and one stalling.
 
The HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north receded 2.21 percent, or 1.86 points, to 82.56 points with 121 shares marching south, 59 going up, and 187 walking on the spot.
 
The HNX30-Index slid 4.12 points, or 2.53 percent, to close at 158.72 points. Among the index members, 23 stocks decreased, one inched up, and 6 treaded water.
 
The market’s total trading value was roughly VND2.1 trillion.
