Little change in VN-Index

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index changed little on November 28 as blue-chip stocks unexpectedly slid at the end of the trading session.

The gauge of 301 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange dipped 0.01 percent, or 0.04 points, to close at 383.31 points.

Across the benchmark, there were 158 winners, 75 losers, while 73 stocks remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse improved by 20 percent in volume, and 8 percent in value over the previous day as around 32.65 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND438 billion.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) topped the list of most active shares in volume for nine consecutive trading sessions with 2 million shares changing hands.

Tan Tao Investment & Technology Joint Stock Company (ITA) followed with 1.41 million shares traded.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, finished third with 1.12 million shares.

Petroleum Industrial & Civil Construction Joint Stock Company (PXI) sank for the third day, giving up 16.42 percent to close VND5,600.

Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) clipped 13.07 percent to close VND13,300.

Freight Forwarding & Trading Joint Stock Company (VNL) and Vietnam Sun Corporation (VNS) both dumped 5 percent to close VND11,400 and VND20,900 respectively.

Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) strengthened 14.29 percent to close at VND800.

Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing (CAD), Meca Vneco Investment & Electricity Construction Joint Stock Company (VES), and South VietNam Container Shipping Joint Stock Company (VSG) all rallied 5.56 percent to close at VND1,900.

Saigon Beverages Joint Stock Company (TRI) advanced 5.26 percent to close at VND2,000.

Meanwhile, Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north rebounded 1.24 percent, or 0.76 points, to close at 61.91 points. Around 31.3 million shares changed hands at a value of VND286.66 billion, the highest level in the past eight trading sessions.

The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares rocketed 2.6 percent, or 0.79 points, to 31.12 points at 2:30 pm Vietnamese time. A total of 221,950 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.85 billion.
