Stocks collapse as investors freak out

The Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index made a sharp fall on April 1 as investors panicked, dumping shares heavily.
 
The VN-Index lost 12.22 points, or 2.22 percent, to close at 538.91 points with 198 stocks declining, 38 advancing, while 47 staying the same.
 
The VN30-Index reduced 10.49 points, or 1.81 percent, to 569.48 points with no gainers, 29 losers and one stock unchanged.
 
The HNX-Index of the northern bourse fell 2.19 percent, or 1.8 points, to finish at 80.47 points. Among the index members, 156 shares waned, 42 waxed, while 171 were unchanged.
 
HNX30-Index also plummeted 3.11 percent, or 4.83 points, to 150.41 points.
 
Total trading value in the market was around VND2.5 trillion.
