Many foreign investors started selling a great deal of stocks in the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange on Tuesday after days of hesitation. The VNI-Index increased 13.42 points (by 2.45 percent) to close at 563 points.
The Ho Chi Minh City bourse saw 20.2 million equities change hands for VND918 billion, including 4.5 million equities sold by foreigners for about VND300 billion (nearly US$18.2 million). Their selling accounted for 36% of the total selling volume.
Foreigners spent only VND123 billion buying 1.7 million equities, just a tiny portion of all 83 million equities bought.
In the city, the stocks of 148 companies rose, six equity codes declined and six remained unchanged in their prices.
Unlike HCMC, sell orders in Ha Noi by foreign investors decreased Tuesday. However, the HASTC-Index of Ha Noi increased by 6.49 percent to end at 184.67 points.
