Stock prices sharply increased on August 18, the first day of the trading band widened to 5% in Ho Chi Minh City and 7% in Ha Noi.

In the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index roses 19 points (3.91%) to close at 508, with 143 stocks rising, 11 declining and six unchanged in their values.
About 18.8 million stocks and equities were traded for VND786 billion (equal to some US$47 million), doubling that on last Friday.
Foreign investors’ sell orders surged by 30% to 24 million stock units and their buy orders reached 56 million units.
In the Ha Noi bourse, the HASTC-Index increased by 4.14% to end at 157.9 points, up 6.2 points. There were 133 stocks up, 11 down and two unchanged.
The trading volume amounted to 14.2 million units, worth at VND737 billion. Notably, the trade of shares tripled that in the previous session, with 10.1 million units changing hands for VND385 billion.
