Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose the second day on November 4 as large-cap stocks continued to shore up the market.
The gauge of 300 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange strengthened 0.52 percent, or 2.13 points, to close at 410.57 points. This week, it lost 2.8 percent.
On the benchmark, 83 stocks increased, 129 decreased, while 93 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse rose by 22 percent in volume, and 43 percent in value as more than 34 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND659 billion.
Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was the most active share in volume with 1.73 million shares changing hands.
It was followed by Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) with 1.38 million shares traded.
Post & Telecommunications Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PTC) came next with 1.29 million shares.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) regained 7.69 percent to VND1,400.
Lu Gia Mechanical Electric Joint Stock Company (LGC) climbed 4.91 percent to VND23,500.
Tai Nguyen Corporation (TNT) rallied for four consecutive trading sessions, escalting 4.84 percent to close at VND13,000.
Vietnam Land Investment Corporation (VNI) declined 5 percent to close at VND5,700.
Materials - Petroleum Joint Stock Company (COM) weakened 4.92 percent to close at VND29,000.
MT Gas Joint Stock Company (MTG) slipped 4.88 percent to VND3,900.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north shed 0.19 percent, or 0.11 points, to finish at 65.97 points. Around 26.4 million shares changed hands at a value of VND271 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares slashed 0.72 percent, or 0.22 points, to close at 30.23 points at 11:30 am Vietnamese time. A total of 93,500 shares changed hands at a value of VND529 million.
