Tax exemption for 18 Vietnamese pangasius exporters

According to the eighth preliminary report of the US Department of Commerce, 18 Vietnamese pangasius exporters were exempt from anti-dumping taxes from August 1, 2010 to July 31, 2011.

Truong Dinh Hoe, general secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), said that according to US regulations, any business that is offered a zero tax rate for three consecutive years can be exempt from anti-dumping duty indefinitely.

Among the exporters, Vinh Hoan Group has enjoyed a zero tax duty in the US market for four consecutive years.

Eighteen of the exporters who received tax exemption are the Vinh Hoan Group; Binh An Seafood Joint Stock Company; QVD Aquaculture; Afiex; Anvifish; Hiep Thanh; An Phu; South Vina; Vinh Quang; Docifish; Godaco;Agifish; Acomfish; Cadovimex II; Hung Vuong; Navico; NTSF; and Samefico.

According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, Japan has again imposed all-out checks after it uncovered two consecutive batches of shrimps imported from Vietnam contained ethoxyquin, a week after it lifted ethoxyquin checks on 30 percent of Vietnamese shrimps.
