Viet Nam has surpassed the Philippines to rank fourth after Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand in its share of the international furniture market among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
According to the Viet Nam Association of Timber and Forest Products (VNATFP), Viet Nam’s share of furniture exports has risen to 0.78% in the first seven months of the year, beating the Philippine’s share of 0.54%.
China remains the world's top supplier of furniture, with 11.9%.
Viet Nam’s furniture exports earned more than US$1.2 billion in the first seven months of this year, exceeding the years target according to the country’s 2010 plan.
VNATFP forecasts Viet Nam’s furniture exports will continue rising in the coming years as markets in Japan, France, Germany and the U.S. are interested in Viet Nam’s furniture, an encouraging sentiment for Vietnamese exporters who are more than willing and able to cooperate to fill large orders.
