Viet Nam Secures Orders for Three Million Tons of Rice

Vietnamese rice traders have won tenders to export more than three million tons of rice mainly to Asian countries since the year began, an official of the Vietnam Food Association said on Friday.

Already this year the country has shipped 864,000 tons of rice abroad.

It’s a good sign that the price is nearly equal to Thailand’s, which means the quality of Vietnamese rice has been improved, the official said.

So far the winter-spring rice crop has yielded some nine million tons. In the domestic market, the best quality rice has gone up by VND3,000 per kilo.
