Vietnam won a Philippine contract to supply 300,000 tons of 25 percent broken rice at nearly US$650 a ton on December 3, the Vietnam Food 2 Co said.
With the delivery scheduled between February and October next year, rice exporters are confident it will not impact domestic supply.
Vietnam has so far won bids to export 750,000 tons of the grain to the Philippines next year.
Following the latest round of bidding, the US-based supplier Toepfer also won a contract for 150,000 tons and Korea’s Daewoo for 100,000 tons.
Vietnam’s rice exports topped 5.6 million tons in the first 11 months this year and there are contracts for 1.1 million tons for delivery in December, of which high-quality rice accounts 39.9 percent, the Vietnam Food Association said.
