Vietnam Oil & Gas Expo aims to boost investment

The Vietnam Oil & Gas Expo 2009, to be held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center October 29-31 in Ho Chi Minh City, will strive to strengthen cooperation and investment in the country’s oil and gas sector, said Vietnam National Oil & Gas Group (PetroVietnam).

During the 8th exhibition, PetroVietnam will promote its local and overseas oil exploration and exploitation activities. It also aims to boost investment in its domestic oil refining activities to meet local energy demand.

The group is co-organizing the event with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry; VCCI Expo, and Exhibition Hong Kong Joint Stock Co.

More than 157 companies from 20 countries and territories will take part in the exhibition on an area of over 7,000 square meters.

Representatives from leading oil and gas groups such as Mitsubishi (Japan), Petronas (Malaysia), Galperti (Italy), Kloeppex Therm GmbH (Germany), Compact GTL plc (England), Gazprom (Russia), and Process Combustion Corp. (America), are scheduled to attend.

The number of small- and medium-sized companies taking part has doubled compared to 2006, indicating that interest in Vietnam’s oil and gas industry has grown steadily over the last several years.

PetroVietnam and 13 of its members will highlight the Dung Quat oil refinery, Phu My Fertilizer Plant, and Bach Ho gas pipelines among other works. The group will cover an area of 150 square meters.

The exhibition has been organized rotationally in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City since 1991.
