Vietnam sees trade gap of US$2.13 billion with ASEAN

Latest data from the General Office of Vietnam Customs shows that Vietnam posted a trade gap of US$2.13 billion in trade with countries of ASEAN in the first nine months of this year, accounting for 15.5 percent of total exports of Vietnam to ASEAN.

In September, Vietnam exports touched nearly $1.53 billion to countries in ASEAN, down 4.3 percent compared to that in August. However, in the first nine months, the country’s exports to this region reached $13.72 billion, an increase of 11 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the country imported $1.8 billion from ASEAN countries last month, raising first-nine-month imports to $15.85 billion.

According to statistics, among countries in ASEAN, Malaysia was the biggest trade partner of Vietnam, followed by Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia.
