The Southern Vietnam Food Corporation (Vinafood 2) has signed a contract with Bulog, Indonesia’s Logistics Board, to export 300,000 tons of 15 percent broken rice.
The Vietnam Food Association has announced rice export prices applicable from October 10. Accordingly 5 percent broken rice will be exported at US$460 per ton; 10 percent broken rice at US$455 per ton; 15 percent broken rice at US$445 per ton; 25 percent broken rice at US$435 per ton.
Truong Thanh Phong, director-general of Vinafood 2, said the delivery will be made from late October until the end of this year. This is also the time for harvest of the autumn-winter rice crop in the Mekong Delta.
According to Vietnam Food Association, the country exported more than 6 million tons of rice in the first nine months of the year, earning US$2.6 billion.
Last year, the country shipped 7.1 million tons of rice worth US$3.65 billion.
