Vietnam to manufacture ELFA hybrid bus

The Ministry of Planning and Investment, Vietnam Motor Industry Corporation and Siemens Vietnam Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding on September 18 to manufacture the ELFA hybrid bus prototype in the country.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Philipp Roesler, the German Minister of Economics and Technology and Bui Quang Vinh, Vietnam’s Minister of Planning and Investment.

The ELFA hybrid bus prototype can reduce fuel consumption by 50 percent and provide easy comfort for passengers.

This prototype model is expected to complete by July 2013. After testing, the bus will carry passengers in an experimental operation on public roads for three months before a final evaluation is made for mass production.

Such a project is being carried out for the first time in Southeast Asia and seen as a key solution to the problem of energy efficiency and environmental protection.
