Vietnamese Rice Hits Stores Worldwide

At harvest time

Viet Nam’s annual exported rice sales have increased from 15 million tons to 30 million tons over the past 5 years, stated reports from the International Rice Research Conference in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

As Viet Nam joins in the World Trade Organization, trade barriers will be removed. In turn the government hopes the export rice sales will increase 10 -15 percent per year, while the price steadily climbs 25 – 35 percent.

At the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the deputy minister of trade, stated that Vietnamese rice is now hitting stores in over 100 countries.
