Vietnam-India bilateral trade reaches US$12.83 billion

The bilateral trade between India and Vietnam reached US$12.83 billion from April, 2017 to March, 2018.

Export of footwear and leather products from India to Vietnam valued US$105 million, showing a growth rate of 13.27 percent compared to the same period of 2016-2017.
India’s footwear and leather products imported from Vietnam cost US$121.63 million, presenting a growth rate of 44 percent compared to the same period of 2016-2017.
According to the Vietnam Leather Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO), Vietnam and India are two of the world’s top three footwear producers. India is the second largest exporter of footwear in the world, while Vietnam gets the third position.
Vietnam imported leather from India worth US492 million in 2017, accounting for 5 percent of its total leather imports.
A delegation of more than 30 Indian businesses participated in an exchange with Vietnamese counterparts which was organized by the Indian consulate in HCM City and the Vietnam Leather Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO) in HCM City on the occasion of 20th International Shoes & Leather Exhibition opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City on July 11-13.
