At the receipt, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the European Union (EU) is leading partner of Vietnam, and the Vietnam and EU had blossoming relationship.
Both sides often maintain high- level meetings in order to create understanding and build mutual confidence for the effective relationship development.
Economic cooperation between the two sides harvested great achievements during the past time and the EU currently is the fourth largest trading partner, the second largest export market and a major investor of Vietnam, he said.
Therefore, Vietnam always considers cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the European Parliament as an important factor for the EU-Vietnam comprehensive cooperation ties, he added.
With the advantages, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc hoped that the EP would support hastening the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) signing, and would soon realize the EVFTA which would contribute to speeding the EU- Vietnam economic cooperation ties.
The Prime Minister also said that since the European Commission (EC) imposed the "yellow card" on Vietnam's seafood exploitation, Vietnam dramatically has focused on finding solutions to overcome the recommendations of the EC, attempted to prevent and terminate illegal fishing vessels overseas and control certification, verification of seafood exploitation origin as key tasks.
Vietnam's policy is to focus on the sustainable fisheries development; to prevent and combat and stop illegal, unreported or non-prescribed fishing activities.
The PM proposed that the EP should review Vietnam's efforts and suggest the EC to soon remove the "yellow card" for Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU.
