VN-Index declines more than 9 percent last year

The representative of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC) on January 21 said that by the end of 2018, the VN-Index lost 9.3 percent compared to the end of 2017, staying at 892.54 points and the HNX-Index fell 10.8 percent to 104.23 points.

Market capitalization reached VND3.9 quadrillion by the end of 2018, up 12.7 percent over the same period in 2017, accounting for 79 percent of GDP in 2017 and 72 percent of GDP in 2018.

According to the SSC, market liquidity strongly improved with total average trading value of VND6.54 trillion per trading session in 2018, up 29.6 percent compared to 2017.

Total capital mobilization nearly hit VND279 trillion, up 13.8 percent over the same period in 2017. Of which, sovereign bond auction reached VND192 trillion, down 1.2 percent; corporate bond issue nearly touched VND64.9 trillion, up 35.4 percent; and equitization brought in VND22 trillion, eight times higher than that in 2017.
