VN-Index Squeaks Back Up a Bit

In this morning’s session at the Ho Chi Minh City bourse, the VN-Index went back to digging dong when it suddenly rose by 4.62 points to close at 935.07 with 77 stocks gaining and 33 falling.

Big caps like Sacombank (STB), Phu My Fertilizer and Chemical (DPM), Pha Lai Thermal Power (PPC), Vinamilk (VNM) and Vinh Son Hydro Power (VHS) all rose, suggesting investors were keeping their eyes on stocks of large-scale companies.

Of all stocks with working capital of over VND1,000 billion, only HPG remained at the same price while the three largest stocks, STB, DMP and PPC, all rose VND500.

Investors now reckon the VN-Index will hover in the 910-950-point range for quite a while and that there are still no positive signs the market will rally again any time soon while VN-Index volume remains below VND800 billion.

A relatively large volume of trade in new listings helped relieve the market’s melancholy a smidgeon, Tu Liem House (NTL), Biochemical Fertilizer (HIS) and Pevetrans (PVT).
