7th Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair opens

The 7th Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair opened at the Le Van Tam Park in District 1 on March 19 and will remain open till March 25.

Around 160 local and foreign publishers with over 500 bookstalls will display over 200,000 titles and expect to sell more than 20 million copies.

Books will be offered at a 10-80 per cent discount during the event.

A series of cultural activities will also be held, including seminars on books, exchanges between writers and readers and book exhibitions on rare and valuable works, Uncle Ho and Vietnam’s islands and sea.

According to Pham Minh Thuan, Director-General of Fahasa Book Distribution Corporation, the book fair is a chance for publishers to introduce and promote their books to readers who will come to the event.

The Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair has become a big cultural event in the city and in Vietnam. The event is important in rebuilding and developing a reading culture among the people.
