2nd Asia-Europe New Music Festival to be held in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc

The 2nd Asia-Europe New Music Festival in Vietnam and the 34th Asian Composers League (ACL) Festival & Conference will be held in Hanoi and the northern province of Vinh Phuc from October 12-18, the Vietnam Musician’s Association announced at the press conference on October 5.

The event will attract around 200 musicians and artists from 30 countries, such as Vietnam, the U.K, India, Poland, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Egypt, Russia, Malaysia, the U.S., Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, France, Australia, Spain, Turkey, Indonesia, Israel, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, China, Tatars tan, Laos, Cambodia and others.

This year’s festival themed “Music- Convergence and Pervasion” will include a series of performances of symphony, chamber, chorus, opera and ballet with more than 100 items.

A large number of local artists of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, the Vietnam National Opera & Ballet, the Symphonic Orchestra and Choir of the  Vietnam National Academy of Music, including big names conductor PhD. People's Artist Nguyen Thieu Hoa; Vietnamese two-chord fiddle artist, People’s Artist Nguyen The Dan; violinist, Meritorious Artist Bui Cong Duy; soprano Dao To Loan will perform at the event.

Musician Do Hong Quan, chairman of the Vietnam Musicians' Association said that the festival aims to introduce latest works of typical contemporary world musicians.

There will be workshops on Asian-European new music and Dan Bau, a Vietnamese traditional one-string musical instrument that are expected to draw local and foreign musicians and researchers. It is also an opportunity to promote revolutionary and new music of Vietnam to international friends, the chairman added.
