The 2nd ‘Don Ca Tai Tu’ or Southern Amateur Music Festival 2017 that ended in Binh Duong Province on April 12 attracted 500 artists from art troupes from 21 cities ad provinces nationwide.

The organization board presented 7 gold medals to outstanding groups of Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City and provinces, Long An, Binh Duong, Ca Mau and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City and provinces, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Thap, Dong Nai and Soc Trang received prizes for their cultural activities promoting southern amateur traditional music.
The organizer also gave 27 certificates of merit to 25 groups and 2 individuals for their outstanding contribution to the success of the festival.
The 2nd ‘Don Ca Tai Tu’ or Southern Amateur Music Festival 2017 was held in Binh Duong Province from April 8-12.
The event themed “Southern Amateur Music- Preservation and Development” is part of the National Action Program for the Safeguarding of Don Ca Tai Tu in the 2014–2020 period launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
The festival included a series of cultural activities, such as exhibitions on the history and development of Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo (southern amateur traditional music), seminar titled “Don Ca Tai Tu heritage- a potential for tourism development”, southern food fair and art performances honoring musicians and artists who have outstanding contribution to the development of Don Ca Tai Tu and others.
Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo (southern amateur traditional music) was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage being held in Baku, Azerbaijan in December, 2013.
The 3rd ‘Don Ca Tai Tu’ or Southern Amateur Music Festival will be held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
