3,000 Dolls Sent to Disadvantaged Children in Can Tho City

The organizing board of “Doll’s House” program handed over 2,000 dolls and 100 gifts of Nutifood milk and boxes of Han Son colored pencil to 2,000 disadvantaged children in Can Tho City on May 29, 2006.

Mr. To Minh Gioi, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City, was really touched by the kind hearts of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) people and children. He hoped that the Sai Gon Giai Phong (SGGP) Newspaper will be a bridge of good will to bring the joy to children in Can Tho and Mekong Delta.

On the same day, a lot of children came to the People’s Committee of Phong Dien District, Can Tho City to receive dolls and gifts which were given by the SGGP Newspaper. Mr Tran Van Tuan, deputy editor in-chief of the SGGP Newspaper, on behalf of HCMC children sent 1,000 dolls and 100 gifts of Nutifood milk and boxes of Han Son colored pencil to disadvantaged children in Phong Dien.

Huy Hoang Garment and Construction Company supported the “Doll’s House” program with VND110 million.

Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) will make up five dolls with the jewelry, which will cost VND20 million for the doll auction to be organized at the Reunification Palace on June 3, 2006.
In addition, the SGGP Newspaper and the Association of Quang Ngai's fellow residents in Ho Chi Minh City discussed ways to mobilize benefactors to raise funds for typhoon Chanchu’s victims through the doll auction.

Consulate generals and HCMC famous artists also sent dolls and cuddly toys to the organizing board for auction.
